reading response 2 1984

the simplist writing style of george orwell allowed anybody to read his book and understand them in new profound ways. the book 1984 for those of you who have not yet had the pleasure of reading this almost frightening way of the world as it could become (for some reason England is always the first to try something new)
The main character is Winston Smith, if you pick apart the name you can notice the bland nature of his last name, a striking contrast to his first name Winston (Winston churchill. anyone?) the first chapter is about how Winston begins to hate the Party which prohibts any induivuality, and if you are found to even be thinking of any rebellious thoughts (which im sure are in some fine print contract they make you sign at birth, who needs a lawyer anyway) they takie you away and you dont come back the same. The book is found to be extreamly vivid in describing some of the conditions of the world as we see it now, "Big Brother" is watching you at all times of the day and the vernacular of the people is quickly cleansed of any words that can even be misinterperted to be anti-party.
From the get go you see winston fight the influnce of the party by writing in a journal (illegal). ya ummm every great revolution starts somewhere i suppose....

  1. This sounds interesting! Someone going against the law always creates a lot of mystery and tension.
